The Basic Crochet Stitches
If you’re just starting out on your crochet adventure then getting the basic stitches under your belt is essential. It’s a good idea to have a go at mastering the basic stitches with a few sampler squares, this way you’ll get a feel of how to hold your hook, practise your tension and start to understand that way the stitches look.
The first thing I would learn to do is chain. This is the foundation of any crochet projects, you can then progress through practising the various stitches.
To start you’ll need a crochet hook and a ball of yarn. I recommend starting with a 4mm hook and a synthetic fibre yarn around a DK weight.
